Aromatherapy
"The art and science of using pure plant essential oils"
The
stress of modern life can take its toll on the body, mind and spirit. Aromatherapy
massage is a gentle form of massage using pure plant essential oils - "the
oils do the work!" After a thorough consultation on your first visit, I
will select some essential oils with you to suit your needs. These essential
oils are then mixed with a carrier oil (e.g. sweet almond oil) and then applied
to the body using gentle massage strokes. Essential oils have many healing properties
and have been used for thousands of years which date back to Egyptian times.
Essential oils are good for treating many ailments including:
- Stress and anxiety
- Muscular aches and pains
- Skin complaints such as acne and athlete's foot
- Perfect for relaxation, unwinding or just pampering yourself
Holistic Massage
Holistic
comes from the Greek word "holos" meaning whole. This form of massage
deals with you as a whole. The aim is to rebalance the body so it achieves homeostasis
or balance. After a thorough consultation on your first visit I will discuss
with you what you want from this type of massage in the way of pressure and
depth of the massage strokes. I will decide which carrier oil is best to use
for you. Holistic massage works on manipulation of muscles and is good for:
- Relieving tension and stiffness within muscles
- Stress and anxiety
- Removing toxins e.g. lactic acid after playing sports
- Improving blood and lymphatic flow
- Perfect for relaxation as well as working on the mind and spirit
Hot Stone Therapy Massage
Hot
stone massage is a speciality and luxury massage using massage strokes with
heated Basalt stones, which are made from volcanic rock. Hot stone massage combines
the benefits of Hydrotherapy and "Thermalism or Thermotherapy" (the
use of heat application) to create a deep, relaxing and healing treatment. The
stones are used as an extension to the therapist's hands and the heat penetrates
the muscles and tissues to a deeper level than regular massage. Some benefits
of this type of specialty massage include:
- Improved blood flow to surrounding tissues
- Relaxes tense, stressed or injured muscles
- Eases stress and anxiety
- Works on the deeper muscles and tissues within the body
Indian Head Massage
Indian
Head Massage has its origins in the ancient system of medicine known as Ayurveda
(circa 1800BC) which was developed in the Himalayan region of the Indian subcontinent

from traditional techniques practised in India as part of family rituals for
over a thousand years. The treatment involves massage to the upper back, shoulders,
arms, neck, face and scalp, with the client seated in an upright position. This
can be performed fully clothed or with the use of oils. Some benefits of this
type of massage include:
- Increases oxygen uptake in the tissues
- Improves blood circulation in previously congested muscles
- Loosens the scalp
- Release stress and anxiety
- Can provide relief from disorders such as earache, tension headaches and migraines, aching jaw from clenching or grinding teeth
- Eases mental tiredness
